Thembi starts a dance movement

Speaking to SunBuzz, Thembi explained that the song title refers to a Pedi expression for dust that swirls up around one from dancing.

“It’s full of energy and electricity and is bound to keep music-lovers on their toes,” she said.

Sticking to the theme of dancing, she recently auditioned numerous dancers for a music video shot in Sophiatown , which she told the publication is “a symbol of Africa, our root”.

“We needed an African touch on the video to give meaning to the song. It’s a tribal hit,” Thembi added.

She also explained that the song is something of a movement for dancers more than a hit, saying: “The movement helps to bring dancers into one house and I use it to create awareness and educate young people about the importance of dance.

“People came from as far as Free State, Limpopo, Rustenburg and many other parts of the country. I was really amazed.”
