Central Gauteng Athletics hosts 2024 Cross Country season

CGA 2024 Cross country season kicks off at a high note.

Central Gauteng Athletics (CGA) hosted the first league of the 2024 Cross Country season at Tsakane Stadium.

The league was hosted in collaboration with Tsakane Athletics Club and it was well supported by various clubs.

The first race of the day was the girls’ U13 3km race, which saw Chelsea van Dyk win the race in 11:57.

“In second position was Zanele Mzizi in 12:16. Settling for the third position was Amila Tshetshe in 12:35,” said CGA PR Nongcebo Siziba.

The other highlight was the senior women’s 4km race where Tashia Mbobo ran her relaxed pace to dominate the event and clocking 17:18.

Second place went to Channen Long in a time of 17:31 and third was Batji Makoma.

“The senior men 4km event saw Thabang Sebopa leading the race to finish first in a time of 13:26 with Molefe Bennett finishing second in a time of 13:41. In third position was Vusi Mazibuko,” said Siziba.
