From Wiener Schnitzel to “mieliepap”
He settled right in and quickly adjusted to the South African way of doing things.

Julian Jöri, an exhange student from Austria, has reached the half-way mark of his stay in South Africa.
Julian’s love for travel, languages and exploring different cultures led to him joining an exchange programme.
South Africa was top of his list of countries, because of its unique diversity, different cultures and languages.
Julian says he loves the South African hospitality and already considers his host family, the Brundyns, as his own.
He settled right in and quickly adjusted to the South African way of doing things.
He attends school at Hoërskool Ermelo every day and tells of one notable difference: in Austria the learners do not change classrooms after each period; instead they spend six hours in a classroom with teachers changing rooms.
Julian enjoys South African fare and even declared his love for mieliepap, yet he cannot understand the difference between Marmite and Bovril and also can’t stand the taste.
He describes a vist to Hoedspruit and a wildlife sanctuary as the highlight of his stay so far, and describes being so close to nature and wild animals as amazing.
Julian is looking forward to the coming school holidays and can’t wait for their visit to Durban.
He says he also still want to visit Mozambique and Swaziland before he returns home at the end of June.
