Residents in several Ermelo suburbs are urged to store water ahead of another major supply interruption tomorrow.

ERMELO – Residents in several Ermelo suburbs are being urged to prepare for another water outage after the Department of Water and Sanitation confirmed planned repair work at the Jericho electrical system on Thursday, 28 May.

The planned shutdown will take place from 08:00 to 20:00 and will temporarily interrupt the raw water supply feeding the Southern Water Treatment Works.

Municipal officials warned that the water treatment and distribution systems could take additional time to recover once the supply is restored.

Areas likely to be affected include:

  • Nederland Park
  • De Bruin Park
  • John Vorster Park
  • George Botha Park
  • Cassim Park
  • New Ermelo
  • Autumn Ridge/Nomndeni
  • Extensions 5, 18, 32, 33, 34 and 39

The latest announcement follows days of severe water interruptions across Ermelo linked to electrical failures at the Usutu River Government Water Scheme.

Although some residents have reported water returning, complaints about low pressure, dirty water and foul smells continue in several areas.
