Gert Sibande’s 3-in-1 Marathon returns after a 6-year break

After a six-year hiatus since its last staging in 2019, the Gert Sibande 3-in-1 Marathon made a triumphant return, drawing more than 700 runners.

The Gert Sibande District Municipality (GSDM) celebrated the successful return of the Gert Sibande 3-in-1 Marathon on May 17.

After a six-year hiatus since its last staging in 2019, the event drew more than 700 runners.

Participants competed in the 42,2km marathon, the 21,1km half-marathon, and a 10km race.

Every finisher earned a commemorative t-shirt and medal to mark their achievement, while the day delivered standout performances across all categories.

Marathon (42,2 km) winners:

  • Mbuti Mollo (Maxed, KZN) – men’s winner (received R5 000 cash prize)
  • Segwana Tladi (Bellas, Mpumalanga) – women’s winner (received R5 000 cash prize)

Half-marathon (21,1 km) winners:

  • Simon Sibeko (Maxed Elid, KZN) – men’s open winner
  • Thembinkosi Mavuso – junior men’s winner
  • Naledi Mazibuko (Top Runners) – women’s open winner
  • Naledi Mazibuko (Top Runners) – junior women’s winner

10 km race winners:

  • Samkelo Ngobese (Bellas) – men’s open winner
  • Music Tshela (Top Runners) – junior men’s winner
  • Tshepang Mazibuko (Top Runners) – women’s open winner
  • Tshepang Mazibuko (Top Runners) – also junior women’s winner
