BREAKING: Emergency services at submerged vehicle scene near Chrissiesmeer
Emergency services, including police, fire and rescue, ambulance crews and traffic officials, are on the scene after a vehicle was found submerged in a dam about 5km outside Chrissiesmeer on the Warburton Road.
CHRISSIESMEER – Various emergency services are currently on the scene where a vehicle was discovered submerged in a dam approximately 5km outside Chrissiesmeer on the Warburton Road.
According to information available at the scene, the vehicle is believed to be about six metres in the dam. Only the roof of the vehicle and its aerial are visible above the water.
Chrissiesmeer police, local traffic department, ambulance services, Van Wettens Towing Services and Msukaligwa Fire and Rescue Department are currently at the scene, where the area has been cordoned off while operations continue.
A local diver, Alwyn van der Linde, and Stone Hadebe, senior fire fighter assisted with the recovery of the vehicle.

The body of one occupant was discovered inside the vehicle, and it is not yet clear if there may have been more occupants.
The circumstances surrounding how the vehicle ended up in the water also remain unknown.
The investigation into the incident will continue thereafter.

Motorists travelling on the Warburton Road are urged to exercise caution in the area and follow the instructions of officials working at the scene. The road is closed for traffic.
