Oxford Village is still on track

All is on track for the opening of the first phase of the Oxford Market, with the opening of the liquormarket at the end of August.

ALL is on schedule for Oxford liquormarket, sited at the old Food Lovers Market at the Heritage Market, to open on 29 August.

The large, spacious liquor market is the first phase of the new Oxford village, with the temporary butchery and bakery section, situated where the old Mr Price Sports and On Cue Salon were located, due to open at the end of September/early October with the final phase and grand opening of Hillcrest’s Oxford Village due to be completed by June 2014.

Brett Latimer, CEO of Oxford said, “There is a massive gap in the market for well priced liquor which we can provide.” Latimer would also like to see local wine clubs getting involved and letting them know what wines they would like to see offered.

There will be security cameras and security guards on the premises for safety and Oxford management reserves the right to control access. Latimer emphasises again that no taxis will be allowed on site and there are no plans to build a taxi rank.

Latimer is also keen to get entrepreneurs involved in renting space in the new Oxford Village. “The shops are easily manageable and no external marketing is necessary. On average 15 000 – 20 000 customers pass through the Oxford Bluff on a Saturday which means a similar traffic flow through the centre will give entrepreneurs within the centre access to these customers. ”

Plans are also under consideration to open a Oxford Grill (restaurant) with good quality but affordably priced meals.

Lucinda Taylor, senior hairstylist at Harven Haircare Specialist said, “we are extremely excited and can barely contain ourselves during the wait. We are sustaining ourselves now with our regular clientele but are expecting to fly once Oxford opens.”

Dave Wolfson, Pharmacist at Sparkport Pharmacy who took over the Pharmacy six months ago said, “I recognised a huge opportunity. Three pharmacies closed down last year. We are a big pharmacy with a lot to offer. We have priced ourselves at the same prices as the corporates (Clicks, Dischem) and the passing trade from Oxford will mean a lot to us.”
