Metro cop shot in dramatic Pinetown shoot-out
Police are investigating a case of attempted murder after a senior officer was wounded in the face and arm in an ambush outside his residence.
A HIGH-RANKING Metro Police officer was hospitalised after a shooting incident in Pinetown on Monday night, March 2.
According to Pinetown SAPS communications Jennifer Naidu the Metro Police member was traveling from Durban central to his residence in Payne Street, Pinetown, when he observed a white Toyota Yaris following closely as he approached a gate entrance.

“According to video footage, two men opened fire on the member, and a cross-shooting ensued, with rifles discharged. The Metro Police member returned fire, discharging several rounds.
“A significant number of rounds were fired at the front, left, and back of the Ford Ranger. The Metro Police member sustained gunshot injuries to the face and right arm and was transported to hospital for treatment,” reported Naidu.
No arrests have been made at this stage. SAPS Pinetown continues to investigate this serious incident.
