Duigan to perform classical masterpieces

DON’T miss Music Revival’s classical piano recital by Christopher Duigan in the monthly concert series at St Agnes’ Church in Abelia Road, Kloof on Thursday, 30 July at 7.30pm.
Duigan’s performance, titled Classical Masterpieces, includes WA Mozart’s popular Piano Sonata in A major, Alla Turca, music by Johannes Brahms, FJ Haydn and Ludwig van Beethoven’s piano sonata, The Tempest. This sonata was supposedly inspired by Shakespeare’s play of the same name, according to Beethoven’s biographer and secretary, Anton Schindler. It is also known as Der Sturm or The Storm. It is widely acknowledged as one of Beethoven’s great masterpieces.
Duigan, regarded as one of South Africa’s versatile and prolific concert pianists, is a Steinway artist and has maintained a busy schedule of concerts, recitals and concerto performances nationally for more than 24 years.
