The popular Baroque 2 000 returns

Tickets are R120 at the door and there will be ample safe parking.

BAROQUE 2 000’s 2015 season resumes with a concert on Sunday, 27 September at the usual venue, the Church of the Monastery, Mariannhill.

The concert will start at 3pm and the programme features Bach’s Peasant Cantata, a bucolic comedy based largely or possibly entirely on popular melodies of the day.

Vanessa Tait Jones, soprano, and Barend van der Westhuizen, bass, both based in Stellenbosch, will sing the parts of the two rustic lovers. The work, part of a celebratory event with a firework display, is in its character unique in Bach’s oeuvre and is full of delightful and humorous music.

There will be two other items in the concert – Handel’s Concerto Grosso in D major and the Overture to his opera, ‘Agrippina’.

Tickets are R120 at the door and there will be ample safe parking. Contact Michel on 082 303 5241 or e-mail sursouth@iafrica.com.
