The festival aims to create a platform for performances and showcases talented dancers in a variety of genres like hip hop, contemporary, ballet, African and Bollywood.

“What I enjoy the most of the Durban Dance Movement festival is the diversity of artists and dancers coming together and sharing a communal space where we celebrate our artistic talents and appreciate our many cultures that makes our City vibrant,” said artistic director Jarryd Watson.

Bringing the diversity to this dynamic festival are featured dance troupes like KZN Dance Academy, KwaMashu School of Dance Theatre, City Celebration, Dance Academy Kloof and ShoDem.

Chelsea Blair Dance Academy will perform some contemporary and jazz dances while Kumari Shiskha Dance Institute will perform classical Indian and Bollywood dances at their debut performance.

Catch performances on the opening Friday night at 7pm from professional groups and two shows respectively at 2pm and 7pm on the Saturday from junior and senior level dance groups.
