Fabulous reads – Take a trip down memory lane

I REMEMBER sitting on the floor in my friend’s lounge, my eyes glued to his TV screen as he made the first Leap of Faith with the assassin, Altaïr, from the tallest building in the vicinity.

The memorable eagle’s cry as he spread his arms and leapt into nothingness only to end up in a pile of hay. I was completely enraptured by the first Assassin’s Creed game and was an instant fan.

The series continued to build on the feeling of pure unadulterated fun as the franchise expanded, pushed boundaries and delved a little deeper into its own fictional history.

With the release of its latest game, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey (set in Greece this time), it only makes sense to introduce a sleek, hardback novel that is a refresher of the series’ history.

The novel includes extensive timeline overviews of each of the assassins that have featured as playable characters in the games. Each page is beautifully designed and the artwork is absolutely flawless.

The writing is slightly dry but short and concise enough that you won’t get bored easily.

If you are new to the franchise, maybe give this one a skip. The book is basically a spoiler for large plot points in games that have dozens of hours of gameplay and meticulously written scripts.
