Baroque National Italian Republic Day at the Church of the Mariannhill Monastery

This concert will be presented in a special format with a large video screen projecting pictures of famous and stunning Italian baroque buildings and monuments and is in celebration of the National Italian Republic Day.

BAROQUE 2000 will perform its third concert of the season at the Church of the Mariannhill Monastery on Sunday, 2 June at 11.30am.

This concert will be presented in a special format with a large video screen projecting pictures of famous and stunning Italian baroque buildings and monuments and is in celebration of the National Italian Republic Day. Works by Giovanni Benedetto Platti and Alessandro Stradella will be performed.

The harpsichord magician Erik Dippenaar will be back from Cape Town and will perform the Sonata in C minor by Domenico Scarlatti and Margrit Deppe will be the soloist in the Concerto for oboe in D minor by Tomaso Albinoni.

The concert ends with the sparkling Concerto in F major RV 569 ‘per molti instrumenti’ (for many instruments) by Antonio Vivaldi featuring a violin solo, two oboes and two French horns.

Tickets will sell at the door for R150 each.

There is ample and safe parking and the Monastery Tea Garden will be open for refreshments and light lunches.
