Fabulous reads – Graphic novel will warm your heart

Picture this, I’ve just flopped onto the comfiest outdoor cushioned chair at a game park, my backdrop is a stunning vista of the greenest trees and wild grasses swaying in a gentle breeze. My feet are kicked up and I am about to settle into the only book I’ve brought along to read during my three-day getaway.
Imagine my surprise when I opened the first page to see a cartoon drawing, and the next and the next. It finally clicked: it’s a graphic novel! I hung my head in shame but, in my defence, I’ve never received a graphic novel in book form before.
The story may be short but is absolutely lovely! It has all of the feels that coincide with falling in love, from a friendship between two high school boys who are still discovering their identities.

Where Charles is more comfortable with his sexual identity, gay, Nick still battles with any form of intimacy with someone of the same sex. Whether it be holding hands or a smidgen of a kiss.
It is the journey of two boys finding themselves while finding each other. It’s cute, the artwork is simple yet effective and your heart may just smile once or twice throughout.
The first volume ends on a total cliffhanger (how dare you, Alice Oseman) and, without divulging too many details, it will definitely have you wanting to read on. Book two is already out and the final two copies of the book are set to release each year until 2021.
