Fabrizio can score overdue win

There are a number of short-priced favourites at Greyville (Polytrack) tonight but it might pay to not rely too heavily on the betting when structuring bets.

The favourite who looks most likely to oblige is Fabrizio in Race 4, a Maiden Plate over 1600m. This Weiho Marwing-trained gelding is overdue to post his maiden victory and is holding form well.

He was thoroughly outclassed by subsequent Grade 1 Investec Derby winner Ertijaal in a 1400m race on this track in November, finishing 7.75 lengths back in second place. Many experts believed he would go one better next time but the son of Lateral disappointed in finishing a one-paced third behind The Poet. Then stepped up to 1600m for the first time last time out, he was beaten only a short head by Mambo Master.

The field does not lack depth and horses like Roy’s Flyer, Crevasse and Hassen’s Bid could make their presence felt.

Topliner is Race 7, a MR 90 Handicap over 1900m and Warcraft is a weak favourite, with three wins and two places from his last six starts. However, it might pay to have an Eachway bet on Jamal, who will fight out the finish if collateral form is to be believed.
