Tzaneen Bowls Club kicks off season with thrilling any fours showdown
Tzaneen Bowls Club opened its new season with an intense any fours competition, where Theo Wolmarans and his team clinched victory in a nail-biting final.
TZANEEN – The greens at the Tzaneen Bowls Club were alive with excitement over the weekend as players competed in the club’s any fours competition, the first of the new season, held on Saturday and Sunday.
Despite the blazing heat, bowlers displayed remarkable skill, endurance, and sportsmanship in what turned out to be a closely contested tournament.
After two days of intense play, the title of any fours champions went to the formidable team of Theo Wolmarans, Tjokkie von Straate, Bennie Mundell, and Khutjo Mahlatsi.
The final match was a nail-biter, with the winners edging out their opponents by a single point, 18–17, in a thrilling finish that had spectators on the edge of their seats.

The runners-up, Ernst Swiglaar, Doug Reed, Marushca Swiglaar, and Louis Campher, put up a valiant fight throughout the competition and were commended for their excellent teamwork and sportsmanship.
Swiglaar described the weekend as one of the most exciting in recent memory, with matches played from early morning until late afternoon. “It was hot, and the competition was just as hot,” said Swiglaar.
