Going to the salon and your favourite professional hairdresser regularly can be quite costly, and if you are a busy person with a hectic schedule then it can be pretty difficult to honour all of your hair appointments.

Try out these quick and easy ways to detangle your knotted hair in a less hurtful and timely manner, to ensure that your hair is still left full, strong and healthy after your detangling process.

Detangling dry and matted 4C natural hair

Having natural hair as a black man and woman can be extremely challenging and costly to maintain. If you do not give your hair frequent attention it can form many knots in a short space of time, making it difficult to comb and style.

This detangling hack was shared by Ms Nonny, and it makes use of only one hair product to get rid of the knots from your hair.

In the video she starts off by wetting her dry hair with water which she has put in a spray bottle for easy use.

She then applies hair conditioner to every part of her hair, ensuring that she separates her hair while doing so, to ensure that the conditioner gets into the knotted parts of her hair.

She then parts sections of her hair and puts it in braids, before covering her hair with a head wrap or hair cap for one hour, to give the conditioner some time to loosen her knots.

Once she is done she then washes out the conditioner, and her hair is easier to comb and style.

Detangling long hair

Abbey Yung has shared some hacks on how to detangle long hair with less breakage and pain in the process.

Her first tips is to brush for your from the ends upwards to the root of your hair.

Her second trip is spray detangling products to your hair in sections and not all at once on your whole head, this ensures that each section gets enough detangling product it needs to work its magic and provide desired results.

Her last tip is for people with long hair to start off the detangling process with their hands and fingers before going in with a hair brush. This will ensure that all big knots are dealt with without causing any major pain while brushing them out.

Homemade detangling spray

This next video is shared by Sharon Hyde, who has shared her process of making her homemade detangling spray to deal with her frizzy and knotted hair.

She starts off by scooping out the flesh of one aloe vera leaf into a bowl. She then soaks the aloe in half a cup of water, and then removes the bits and pieces from the mixture which did not dissolve.

She then adds moisturising oil to the aloe and water mixture, and then mixes everything well before transferring it into an empty hair spray bottle.

The detangling hair spray is then ready to be used on your knotted and matted hair.
