Mandela day celebrated throughout town

Mandela visited Lydenburg on 3 November 1999 where he was then awarded the key to the town by the late former mayor of TCM, Mr Mandla Mabelane. Until today, this honour has not been bestowed upon anyone else.

LYDENBURG – The town was abuzz recently when residents from all walks of life celebrated Mandala day in honour of the late Nelson Mandela.

It seemed fit that the man who still holds the key to the town be honoured for the important legacy he left behind.

Mandela visited Lydenburg on 3 November 1999 where he was then awarded the key to the town by the late former mayor of TCM, Mr Mandla Mabelane. Until today, this honour has not been bestowed upon anyone else.

Residents, businesses and companies came together to honour the legacy and to give to those in need.
