PHOTOS: Kiddies delight in a magical toyshop

Dinkyland's annual concert was nothing short of entertaining, with an abundance of 'awww's' from the crowd.

MBOMBELA – Few things compare to the look in a toddler’s eyes when they see their parents sitting in the crowd at their biggest concert of the year.

At Dinkyland’s annual concert, which took place at the civic centre on Thursday, smiles and sobs erupted as the little ones’ nerves set in. The theme was The Magical Toyshop – and magical this experience was.

In the age group two to three years – the Little Bears – there were toddlers who performed as if they were born to be on stage. Others wanted nothing to do with the spotlight and only reached for Mom who they could see was sitting in the third row. The Teletubbies joined the bears on stage, an act which also bore a few of its own soloists, Kelly Lubbe. Kelly belted out each word of the Teletubbies theme song and “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” as if hers was the only voice in the act.

The Magucal Toyshop also gave life to Barbie and Ken, as well as little dolls and soldiers.

At the end of each act, parents were invited to fetch their children at the stage.

Dinkyland headmaster Ms Liza de Lange, shared her thoughts on the success of the evening. “The children worked so hard and practised every day. I thought they were so cute tonight.”
