Shoeboxes bring joy to disadvantaged children
Children of Ebenezer and Kgakanyane orphanages were invited to the event where each child received a shoebox filled with goodies
BURGERSFORT – Tubatse Crossing Shopping Centre held its gift handover last Friday. Children of Ebenezer and Kgakanyane orphanages were invited to the event where each child received a shoebox filled with goodies.
During November locals and schools had the opportunity to fill shoeboxes with stationery, toiletries and toys for disadvantaged children. The children were treated to face painting, hot dogs, singing and dancing. The highlight of the day was when Santa Claus gave them the boxes.
“Thank you to all the sponsors and locals who filled the shoeboxes. We handed over around 50 on Friday and plan to give the rest to underprivileged schools in Tubatse in January when the schools reopen. The festive season is all about caring and to see the joy the shoeboxes brought to the little ones was truly spectacular,” said Caroline Modjadji, Tubatse Crossing spokesman.
