Lowvelders spotted on Cheap Car Challenge

"It's Baas Ig and his Bosparra gang en route to Bothaville." - Jay J Botes

MIDDELBURG – A Lowveld father and his two sons embarked on a Cheap-Car Challenge a-la-Top Gear on Saturday morning. Lowvelder previously reported that they would embark on this trip of a lifetime, which will lead them to Namibia and back.

Ig Olivier explained that each of the three had to buy a vehicle costing no more than R20 000 with a minimum of 30 000 kilometres on the clock. These wheels would have to get them there and back.

Former Casterbridge Barnyard Theatre owner Jay J Botes caught up with them when they stopped to refuel at Shell Ultra City, Middelburg. “Look who I just drove past. It’s Baas Ig and his Bosparra gang en route to Bothaville,” he wrote on Facebook. He added photos of Ig and his sons, MP and Natas’ vehicles. Ig’s wife Wilna followed the three in a Toyota Land Cruiser. The Oliviers were scheduled to reach Hakskeenpan on Monday.
