Barberton film director shoots for the local stars

Director of Umjindi Reloaded, Lucky Nkambule, has reason to smile. On Saturday he was chosen to represent the Cultural and Creative Industries Federation of South Africa (CCIFSA) in five municipal areas, namely Umjindi, Nkomazi, Thaba Chweu, Bushbuckridge and Mbombela. This was during the federation’s launch in Mbombela.
Nkambule, was one of eight members from Barberton Umjindi Audio and Visual (BUAV) who stood for the CCIFSA position. He is the chairman of BUAV. He said he is committed to making a success of this new role.
He will be a mouthpiece for any film company in these five municipal areas, which falls under the CCIFSA banner.
It will be his job to assist these entrepreneurs by doing inspections, checking their equipment and helping them on the path to becoming local filming companies. Nkambule will also be responsible for the allocating of government funding for the areas which he services.
As of next week he will visit all the different municipal areas to meet the directors and actors, familiarising himself with their structures and operations.
“Umjindi municipality and its community have been very supportive and I wish to thank each and every one of them,” he said.
Next month Nkambule will go to Johannesburg for the provincial selection of CCIFSA and requests that the community continue to back him.
He is in need of sponsors to aid with transport and accommodation costs to Gauteng and hence asks that any business or individual willing to assist, please contact him on 071-276-6401.
The good news does not stop there. Last year Barberton Times reported that a well-known director from Gauteng visited the crew of Umjindi Reloaded.
He was very keen on helping them with marketing their latest film. As with all their other movies, everything and everyone involved came from the local scene.
The only difference was that this time Moja Diamond was the director and was assisted by Nkambule.
The film was aptly called Umjindi and will soon be available for your viewing pleasure – the details will be given through in the media.
