Country fun day raises some funds for little Logan

STEELPOORT – During the country fun day at Winterveld Club on April 16, the Dyssel family managed to raise funds for Logan Dyssel (2) who is deaf and was diagnosed with permanent brain damage. The money will contribute to the medical expenses needed to improve his quality of life.

Visitors came from all over to support Logan on his fun day. The event started at 11:00 but Ms Georgina Solomon, Logan’s grandmother, said eager visitors had began to show up at 06:00.

Musicians Charlie Nash, Liza Storm, JJ and Jacqui Jade entertained visitors with performances. Later a Mr and Miss Country was chosen, with Ms Janie Erasmus, Miss Deaf SA 2015/16 as guest judge. Fun activities for the little ones included jumping castles, water slides and go-karts.

Various stalls provided delicious food, sweets, clothing, handmade items, toys and jewellery. Also, an exhibition of cars and bikers from several motorcycle clubs bought a ‘Logan’ badge to put on their jackets and show their support for his cause.

“We raised R10 570 at the country fun day for Logan’s medical expenses. This amount will definitely bring some financial relief. I would like to thank everyone who was involved in the event as well as Miss Deaf SA 2015/16 for donating 10 per cent of her concert income in September to Logan” said Solomon.
