VIDEO: Big Wild Dog pack in Kruger

Video courtesy of Kruger National Park's YouTube channel

“We encountered this mega wild dog pack in the Kruger National Park on the H7 (road between Satara and Orpen) at around 06:00 just past the Nsemani dam where they were spread out and lying in the road.

We followed them for around one and a half hours hoping to see them catching something. It seemed that they had eaten something earlier as some of the dogs were covered in blood, but with all those mouths to feed they were on the prowl again.

It was really amazing as they would run with the youngster playing around at the back, sniffing and investigating.

Every now and again the alpha female called and then they would all gather around and then take off again.

Eventually the dogs encountered 2 zebras, but they were not on the menu.

Soon thereafter they disappeared into the bush.

We estimated around 28 wild dogs as it was very difficult with them running around all over to get a correct count.” – Video Taker
