Irish history relived

BARBERTON – On Saturday morning, history was relived for a short while when the South African Irish Regiment Pipes and Drums, with the Witwatersrand Rifles Association took to the streets.

During the march, in which the veterans of war took part, the eldest, Sid Gibson, who received his training at Regiment Botha during 1939, was as enthusiastic as the younger participants. Entertaining as always, they fascinated the people as the band and entourage proceeded towards the MOTH Clubhouse, the Lone Tree Shellhole.
