Verona makes a difference in the community

BARBERTON – Verona Beukes, owner of Laeveld Smous, started a charity six months ago. She offers food parcels to the pensioners at the old age home on a monthly basis or even a couple more times if she can.

On Fridays at 09:00 she hands out cooked meals right outside of her business on Crown Street to about 130 people.

The cooked meals are distributed to pensioners and some of them bring along their grandchildren, whom their children have left them with.
She not only gives food parcels and cooked meals but also pens, pencils and notebooks to the schoolchildren whom are in need of the stationery. If and when she can, she offers jobs to those who come into her shop, looking for help. She has hired two people recently to come work for her.

Verona gets assistance from various people who donate foods parcels which she hands out.
With such humanity and a big heart Verona is a true blessing to the community.
