PRAKTISEER – Tubatse’s own beauty queen, Luyanda “Lulu” Maphanga (16) of Dark City, is one of the Miss Limpopo Teen 2014 finalists and this grade 10 learner of Nthlatlole College believes that the crown will be heading to the Platinum City.
Lulu is the only representative from Sekhukhune, and will be competing with other beauties from all corners of the province. The crowning will take place during a gala dinner to be held at Bolivia Lodge on December 7.
Talking to Steelburger/ Lydenburg News Lulu said it was a challenge to reach the finals. “I am from a disadvantaged family, the cost for the photo shoots, workshops and cosmetics were very high but with God’s grace I managed to reach the finals. I always had a desire to be a beauty queen or a fashion model and used to imitate models like Adriana Lima and Naomi Campbell during my early years at primary school,” said the cute model.
The gorgeous teen thanked her role model Ms Rebecca Mankwe (teacher at Koboti) for her support and guidance. She also plans to enter Miss Tubatse in the future.
Meanwhile Lulu is participating in community cleaning projects with the help of Greater Tubatse Municipality’s cleaners. On Tuesday, they ensured the local taxi rank in Praktiseer was spotless. She is also teaching young locals the basics of modelling.
Her family request sponsorships from local business people to assist with her expenditures. Those who wish to help can call Lulu’s mother, RoseMaphanga, on 083-328-3902.
