Racial tensions flare at I’langa Mall

The woman's male friend told the journalist that, now that Mandela was dead, all whites were going to pay

NELSPRUIT – Two vehicles gridlocked over a parking space at I’langa Mall which then came to a standstill during last minute Christmas shopping with onlookers. The incident occurred today at 14:00.

According to Bossie’s Community Justice operational manager Mr Jacques Meiring, a man veered his bakkie too wide and blocked a woman trying to exit the parking space.  He said the woman claimed the man had made racist remarks towards her and had refused to reverse.

Despite her claims of victimization, the woman had accosted a Lowvelder journalist while she took photos of the vehicles. She screamed at the journalist that she was a “white b****” and claimed the paper had no right to take a photo of her vehicle.

While the journalist tried to explain that it was a public area that the situation had occurred, the woman’s male friend told the journalist that, now that Mandela was dead, all whites were going to pay.

Meiring stated that he spoke to the male driver who then reversed his vehicle and drove off, showing the woman a swear word sign.

Eventually the onlooking crowd dispersed.
