Not all is lost in Paradise Rally

Two brothers had an argument and the one stabbed the other three times at the rally on Friday night.

WATERVAL BOVEN – A relatively calm Paradise Rally took place this past weekend. EMS paramedic Mr Shaun Naudé, an avid biker himself, said that the rally was only marred by a few incidents.

He stated that two local brothers had an argument on Friday night and one stabbed the other three times. The victim sustained wounds to the shoulder, ribs and neck and was hospitalised but is in a stable condition.

Naudé said an accident occured when two locals crossed a road while bikers were doing wheelies. A biker hit them, but neither they nor the biker were seriously injured. The bike sustained severe damage.

A local bystander said he witnessed a couple manning the gate who were threatened at the entrance to the rally grounds at around midnight on Friday, by about eight or nine bikers who did not have right to entry.

The person stated the couple had apparently called for help, but no one came to their aid. The bikers nevertheless entered the rally area and the couple then abandoned their post.

The same bystander said a biker was brandishing a firearm and waving it into the air at the party on Friday night.

Eurotech Security’s Mr Maurice Nel stated the stabbing had apparently occurred in town and not at the rally.

Nel also said they were nor aware of the other incidents. Waterval Boven SAPS said no incidents had been reported to the station regarding the event. This was the second time this annual rally had been held in the town. The event has been held over the past 36 years and is popular among avid bikers across the country.
