MALALANE – A house in Air Street, number 10, went up in flames on Saturday evening. Witnesses said the fire was still smouldering the next morning.
“It happened that evening, the house burst into flames and then a man ran out of the home. No one ever showed up to put out the blaze. I am not even sure if the fire department was called.” said a witness.
Police spokesman Const Bheki Nkosi said the police had not been notified of the incident. “The matter was not reported to the local police by the owner, therefor we are unaware of what caused it or what happened during the house fire.
We will probe the matter to asses if an investigation is necessary.”
The house is currently standing empty and the occupants are nowhere to be found. The property is managed by Maude Meyer Properties, which was not at liberty to discuss the matter. The property is believed to be owned by Cargo Carriers, which has been unreachable for comment.
