Riders gear up for 2014 enduro champs

The fourth round of the Liquorland National Enduro Motorcycle Championship and the Lydenburg National Enduro that will takes place on July 26, is expected to level the playing field at a critical stage in the 2014 series.

Hosted by the Lowveld Enduro Club, it is the first time that Lydenburg, more specifically the Badfontein area, will welcome the best riders in the country, including legend Alfie Cox who has more that 20 national championship titles next to his name.

According to Brett Swanevelder 150 to 200 riders are expected and they will have to complete the 140km route. “Riders will have to complete four laps of 35km and will have an average time of one and a half hour to complete the route,” he said. The route includes mountains, rivers, fast single tracks and also three specials along the way.

“We have a 2km MX specials, 2km Xstreme specials and a 9km Enduro special which all require different skills such as speed, technique and a combination of both.”

The event promises not only to deliver to all riders expectations, but spectators can also look forward to an unforgettable day. “Three of the specials will start and end within a 300m radius of the pits and there will also be a 1km river section next to the pits that will have spectators in awe”.

According to Swanevelder refreshments will also be available throughout the day as well as spectator area, jumping castle and kiddies fun track. “We invite all members of the public to support the riders and enjoy a day in the beautiful Badfontein valley.”
