NKOMAZI – The MEC for the Mpumalanga department of health Mr Gillion Mashego and the speaker of the provincial legislature, Ms Thandi Shongwe, rolled up their sleeves and got their hands dirty in doing their bit to clean up Shongwe Hospital.
The cleanup of the hospital, located in Nkomazi Local Municipality, formed part of the department’s Mandela Day celebrations. It saw them sweep and scrub floors as well as paint wards.
Mashego and Shongwe were accompanied by radio and TV celebrities, including Ligwalagwala FM DJ Shabba, Scandal actor Sello Maake Kancube and gospel artist Pretty Mhlongo. Mr Dumisane Malamule, spokesman for the department, said they would not leave until the hospital was spotless.
