Water shortages expected until Thursday

Be mindful when using water during the next two days as there may be shortages due to canal maintenance.

For the next two days residents should be mindful of their water usage as canal maintenance is taking place. The Mbombela Local Municipality warned Hazyview residents that there would be water shortages while the canal is closed between July 22 and 24.

During this time alternative raw water supply will be used, said Mr Joseph Ngala spokesperson of Mbombela Local Municipality.

This morning Ngala said residents had no water due to problems at the raw water pump station.  New pumps were supposed to be installed yesterday, but the service provider was unable to because some parts of the electrical works were in water.

Ngala said that they were working on the situation and have organised with the Irrigation Board to have the canal back in service. The water treatment works was expected to be operational by 10:00.

The Mbombela Local Municipality apologised for the inconvenience caused to residents.
