March over war in Gaza

A protest is being planned in solidarity with the people of Palestine tomorrow.

Residents are planning a protest action today (Friday) against the current bout of conflict in Gaza.

The local branch of the Palestine Solidarity Alliance (PSA) is organising the protest against what they call the humanitarian crisis resulting from the conflict. It is in solidarity with the people of Palestine but not on religious grounds, explained Mr Yaseen Mohamed, one of the organisers.

They plan to march to the Office of the Premier Mr David Mabuza at the government complex to hand over a memorandum demanding the expulsion from South Africa of the Israeli ambassador and the recalling of the South African ambassador to Israel.

The march, for which permission has been obtained, is set to start at the traffic circle located behind Builder’s Warehouse in Riverside at 14:00.
