MALALANE – Alleged drug dealer Emeka Chukwa Kgsiome (31) appeared in the Barberton Magistrate’s Court again on July 24, after his bail application was denied in the local Periodical Court the day before.
“He has been granted bail of R2 500 and the case has been postponed to August 28,” said Const Bheki Nkosi, spokesman for Malalane SAPS.
According to Nkosi, Kgsiome was arrested during a sting operation conducted by the local police and the White River K9 Unit on Monday July 14.
Police swiftly reacted to a tip-off and apprehended Kgsiome on the road to Extension 6. Nkosi said, “It is alleged that the suspect was on his way to deliver the drugs to a client in this area.”
After Kgsiome was searched by the authorities, they found a matchbox containing four small bags filled with CAT on his person. He was then arrested for dealing in drugs.
Nkosi added, “An investigation further revealed that all four bags contained six grams of the drug, which can be sold for R250 to R300 a bag on the street, which equates to a total amount of R1 200.” He added, “It is suspected that Kgsiome rents a house in Extension 6 and may well be a resident in the area.”
