Komati roadworks still on the right track

The current roadworks should be completed December after which motorists will be able to enjoy a safer travelling experience.

KOMATIPOORT – The current roadworks should be completed December after which motorists will be able to enjoy a safer travelling experience.

Trans African Concessions (TRAC) is currently working on widening the paved shoulders approaching the Load Control Centre and rehabilitating the access intersection and adjacent road sections.

“The shoulder widening forms part of an interim safety strategy to increase safety due to queuing trucks accessing the Load Control Centre.

As for the road structure, it requires structural improvement which consists of the reconstruction of the top 300mm of the road,” said Ms Solange Soares-Nicholson the communications manager for TRAC.

TRAC has however implemented a stop/go system that has been running smoothly and does not require too long of a wait.

“Unfortunately, once a section of road is broken up for reconstruction, it becomes non-trafficable until the work is completed, hence our implementation of stop/go operations in this area,” Soares-Nicholson said.
