According to a report released by ER24, four men were killed and three others injured last night when a truck collided with a taxi on the N4 near Komatipoort, Mpumalanga.
ER24 paramedics arrived on scene, they found the truck and taxi stationed on the side of the road. The occupants of the taxi lay around the taxi and its trailer.
On assessment, paramedics found that four men had been dismembered and succumbed to their fatal injuries.
Three other patients lay next to the taxi, their injuries ranging from minor to moderate.
Paramedics provided the patients with advanced life support before transporting them to Tonga Hospital for further treatment.
Witnesses said that the occupants of the taxi had apparently been pushing the broken down taxi up the hill before the truck collided with the taxi trailer.
Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
