Ready to serve, ready to lead

MBOMBELA – Acting provincial commissioner, Maj Gen Mishaek Nogwanya rejoiced with his colleagues as they were promoted to higher ranks on Monday.
This took place during a media briefing in an attempt to put rumours to rest that members of the Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union and the South African Police Union, were being favoured when promotions were considered.
These “top cops” as Nogwanya called them, most having completed more than 20 years of service, were proud to have their brand-new ranks on their shoulders.
Nine senior officials, who were among nine African males, 10 African females, two white females, one coloured male and one white male, were promoted.
These senior officers were Col Brian Muller with 23 years of service, (promoted to Vispol commander, Mbombela), Col Lindiwe Letwaba with three years at the SAPS (promoted to specialised investigation legal services), Col Michael Malatji with 27 years of service (promoted to Acornhoek Cluster Legal Service Commander), Col Baby Masango also with 27 years of service (promoted to Elukwatini Station Commander), and Col Danger Piet Mavundla with 33 years of service (promoted to field police development, responsible for police trainees).
“With these new developments, Anderson Street will never be the same and we will also continue to ensure that all rotten tomatoes are removed from the police service,” Nogwanya said.
