Police commended for arrest over baby’s disappearance

Mr Vusi Shongwe says the arrest of five suspects linked to the kidnapping would restore the community’s faith in the police.

MBOMBELA – The police service has been applauded for their recent breakthrough in the case of the baby who had disappeared from Rob Ferreira Hospital on August 30.

Mr Vusi Shongwe, MEC for the department of community safety, security and liaison said this week that the arrest of five suspects linked to the kidnapping would restore the community’s faith in the police.

“We are appealing to the police to leave no stone unturned in order to speedily reunite the stolen baby with the family and to also bring these rogue elements to book.”

Shongwe called on security companies posted in hospitals and other government sites to be vigilant and extremely cautious at all times, in order to ensure that such incidences are not repeated in the future. He further called on community members who may have information regarding the incident to contact the police without hesitation.

“Justice must prevail. These suspects, if found guilty, must be accorded stiff sentences.”
