KARINO – Most occupants of the Buscor bus which was involved in a fatal accident on Wednesday morning, have been discharged from hospital. One pedestrian was killed in the collision.
Ms Norah Fakude, executive chairman of Buscor, said that it was worrying that the company continued to experience accidents that were not of their drivers’ making.
“The lives of our passengers and pedestrians are put in danger because of other negligent road users who continue to put their unsafe vehicles on the road,” she said. She visited the scene shortly after. “We all have a responsibility to ensure that we consider the safety of all other road users before our own profit interests, because in the process, innocent lives are lost.”
She concluded by saying that it was always a tragedy to lose a life, and one life was one too many. “Our entire staff and we, the executives of Buscor, wish to convey our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. The company will do its utmost to help the family during these trying times.”
Yesterday morning Fakude, accompanied by Buscor’s public relations officer and a pastor, visited two of the patients at Mediclinic Nelspruit. They also went to Rob Ferreira. At the time of going to press, two bus occupants were being treated in ICU and a third in a general ward. The rest had all been discharged.
