Cefups Academy responds on why school should remain open

The Mpumalanga Department of Education confirmed yesterday that it has received a response from the owner of Cefups Academy.

MBOMBELA – The Mpumalanga Department of Education confirmed yesterday that it has received a response from the owner of Cefups Academy.

This follows after a pupil of the school died after allegedly being beaten with a sjambok.

Last week provincial executive member Mr Gillion Mashego said the department of education had given the school until September 19 to made presentations about why the school should remain open.

Department spokesman Mr Jasper Zwane said the school received the response from Cefups owner Mr Simon Mkhatshwa on Wednesday.

“The department is studying the content of the response and will pronounce its decision once it has finalised all internal administration related issues relating to this matter,”
