APRAV aims to protect road accident victims’ rights

The Association for the Protection of Road Accident Victims involves Lowveld in national awareness campaign.

MBOMBELA – The Association for the Protection of Road Accident Victims (APRAV) is a non-profit organisation that aims to protect the rights of South African citizens affected by accidents on our roads.

After the Department of Transport published the Road Accident Benefit Scheme (RABS) Bill on 9 May 2014, many complaints have surfaced regarding the RABS Bill’s content.

APRAV says that the effects that the implementation of the current RABS Bill will have, have not been properly disclosed to the public.

The public will, according to APRAV, therefore not be able to make suitable suggestions or comments on this Bill on or before the closing date for comments, which is 6 October 2014.

APRAV has summarised the contents on their website and launched a national public awareness campaign to inform the public with regardsto the effect that this legislation may have on their rights.

Various newsletters have been distributed and APRAV is intending to initiate engaging with the public in the Lowveld via social media and e-mail newsletters.
