Unidentified gardener dies after collision with bakkie

Medical personnel rushed to the scene behind I'langa Mall and found that the man had already died from his injuries.

A male cyclist in his thirties who worked as a gardener in West Acres, was run over and killed by a bakkie on Monday.

Medical personnel rushed to the scene behind I’langa Mall near the junction of Flamboyant and Bitterbessie/Silver Oak streets at around 09:00. They found that the man had already died from his injuries. His identity is being witheld since his family has not been notified of his death as yet.

The woman who drove the bakkie was too shocked shortly after the incident to tell authorities exactly what had happened. The security camera on that specific strip of the road also did not cover the spot where the accident occurred. The first paramedics on the scene, Netcare 911, declared the cyclist dead just after 09:00. It is suspected that he died form severe head injuries.
