Tsamaya semi-finals defending champions clash with title contenders

The defending Tsamaya Cup champions, Magogeni Classic’s title defence campaign was brought to an halt when they were dethroned in semi-finals.

This came to light on Saturday September 21, when the defending champions clashed with title contenders Schoemansdal Junior Aces at the Driekoppies stadium.

The 2013 champions made it through to the last eight of the tournament with a narrow and not very convincing 3-2 victory Schuzendal Small Chiefs.

Mean while Junior Aces entered into the last eight with a substantial 4-2 victory over Blessed Babylon.

Heading into the semi-finals, Magogeni Classic, again failed to put on a convincing performance narrowly escaped defeat at the feet of Middleplaas Black Rovers.

Black Rovers lost the game on a slender odd 1-0 result.

On the other hand, Junior Aces, proved to be consistent by retaining its four goals score line when it clashed against Ocean Swallows.

Despite Ocean Swallows finding an early equalizer, it was not enough to deny Junior Aces a 4-1 victory going into the semi-finals.

Ultimately, in the semi-final clash between both these sides, Magogeni Classic suffered a 3-1 defeat at the feet of Junior Aces.

With this victory, Junior Aces have successfully reserved their place in the final.

Meanwhile Mashaba United, were awarded a free pass into the last eight of the tourney when they defeated Driekoppies Sifudzaekhaya.

Mashaba United trashed Sifudzaekhaya 3-0 to advance into the last eight of the tourney.

Naughty Boys, who played Mashaba United on Saturday, grabbed a slender 1-0 victory over Block B United.

Leading towards the semi-finals Mashaba United put on an impressive performance against their hometown rivals Mbokodo Wondrous.

The two sides played to an intense goalless draw were Mashaba United dominated the game and created the most chances.

Mashaba United emerged victorious on penalties with a not so decisive 3-2 victory.

Naughty Boys went into the semi-finals with a much shakier recorded when they were also held to a goalless draw by Middleplaas All Blacks.

The two sides played as if they were playing a derby, and both wanted to keep as much of the ball as possible.

Both creating some great scoring chances, the game ended goalless, however Naughty Boys managed to selvedge their hononr during the penalty shoot-out, with a 5-3 victory.

When Mashaba United and Naughty Boys met this past weekend in the semi-finals clash, fortune provided to be on Naughty Boys’ side.

Awarding Naughty Boys yet another slender 2-1 victory, to place them in final against Junior Aces, a team they last met in the Selati Cup in 2009.

Speaking to Corridor Gazette on Tuesday afternoon, both the sides said they were ready and well prepared for what they expect to be tough final on Sunday September 28, at the Driekoppies Stadium.
