Fraud suspect remains in KZN police custody

Mr Derek Poole was expected to appear in the Durban court on Thursday morning.

MBOMBELA – An alleged fraudster who is wanted for missed court appearances in the Lowveld, remains in police custody in KwaZulu-Natal. Mr Derek Poole was apprehended in Durban on Monday of last week.

The arrest was made on a reactivated warrant which had been issued by the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court when Poole had failed to appear in court for his trial on fraud charges in August.

Poole was expected to appear in the Durban court on Thursday morning. He was also expected to remain in custody at the Bel Air Police Station until the Gauteng police fetched and returned him to Sandton. Arrest warrants had also previously been issued for Poole in the Hazyview and Mbombela courts due to him not showing up on scheduled court dates.

He is charged with fraud in Hazyview and fraud and assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm in Mbombela.
