Policeman accused for rape – in court today

It was alleged that the accused took the victim to a forest near her home where he had raped her in his vehicle.

WHITE RIVER – The 47-year-old warrant officer who is accused of raping a 67-year-old woman, is set to appear in the White River Magistrate’s Court today. The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) Mpumalanga office arrested the SAPS member shortly after the alleged incident on Sunday evening July 13. The suspect was released on R1 000 bail.

It was alleged that on the day in question the victim had been at the police station to report an assault involving her children. She was assisted by the suspect who allegedly detained her for an unknown reason and sexually assaulted her in an office next to the Community Service Centre. The victim went home followed by the accused who arrived in a SAPS vehicle and told her to accompany him.

It was alleged that the accused took the victim to a forest near her home where he had raped her in his vehicle. His last appearance was on August 29, when the case had been postponed for further investigation due to pending DNA results.
