Primary’s cricket boys outclass the rest

For the third consecutive year the KIA Nelspruit Primary first cricket team have won the Mpumalanga Super Schools Cricket league. In a very tight game against Goedehoop, the match was tied on 85 runs.

Primary bat first and scored 85/9 in 30 overs.

According to their coach, Albert van Putten, it was a very slow pitch and outfield, but bowlers from both teams still did a very good job. Goedehoop scored 85/6. Primary has played in 53 games since 2011 of which they have won 51, tied one and lost only one. Six of these boys also played in the u/12 Puma team where the captain, Khaya Fakude have scored 1 200 runs since 2011 at an average of 50,12. The school congratulated the boys for their performance, stating that they are “extremely proud of each of the 12 boys.

The u/10 cricket team of Nelspruit Primary was recently crowned Ehlanzeni Super Schools League winners. Out of seven matches they won six.

“We are extremely proud of these 12 boys,” coaches Basie Ueckermann and Juan Brand said.

They also expressed their gratitude towards all the sponsors who supported the boys throughout the season.
