Foreigner nabbed for theft and drugs
Not only did the police discover various stolen cellphones, a generator, gold and diamond jewellery, a camera, laptops and money, they also seized rock cocaine to the value of R500 000.
LYDENBURG – The K9 dog unit of the SAPS arrested yet another foreigner for the possession of stolen goods last week Friday.
The Nigerian man was apprehended after this unit raided his flat in town next to Estralita School. Not only did the police discover various stolen cellphones, a generator, gold and diamond jewellery, a camera, laptops and money, they also seized rock cocaine to the value of R500 000.
The police confiscated all the items.Rock cocaine, like that seized, sell for about R300 per bank bag on the market. The drug is crushed and then either smoked, sniffed or injected.
Police also seized 28 cellphones with an estimated value of R84 000. The suspect appeared in the Lydenburg Magistrates court on Monday May 18 on charges of the possession of stolen goods and drug dealing.
His case was postponed to June 8 and he was remanded in custody.
