Man suffers severe blood loss in attack with glass

MBOMBELA – A man has to undergo surgery to his eardrum after two men stabbed him in the neck and head with a glass at Bahati Amakiti sports bar on Friday evening.
Jonathan Rosewarne (22) was apparently sitting inside the bar, having a drink with his friends when a man came up behind him and hit him over the head with a glass. He then fell to the ground and tried to escape his attacker when another man also hit him with a glass. The two men then stabbed him in the face and neck with the broken shards.
“It was all so random,” said Ms Jessica Joubert Rosewarne, the victim’s sister. “There was really no reason for the attack.”
Rosewarne apparently started to lose consciousness due to blood loss and was rushed to hospital where Dr Hein van Wyk treated him. “I am surprised he didn’t bleed to death,” Van Wyk said. “The main artery in his neck was struck and he had a gash close to his temple.”

According to Mr Conrad van den Bergh, owner of Bahati Amakiti, the two men have had quarrels in the past.
Both men had been banned from the bar for six months.
According to Const Gugu Phiri, spokesman for White River SAPS, no arrests have been made as yet and the matter is still under investigation.
