Two suspected thieves arrested
"The suspects were arrested on the spot. They appeared in the Praktiseer Magistrate's Court on May 11 on charges of possession of stolen property and an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
BURGERSFORT – Tubatse police arrested two suspects who are believed to have terrorised local villages by stealing cars and goods.
The success came after a tip-off from Bothashoek villagers that there was a suspected stolen motor vehicle in the village.
“On their arrival our officers found a 23-year old man busy washing the car and asked where the owner of the car was.
“He directed the cops to a certain room and they found a 26-year-old man who claimed to be the owner of the vehicle. We asked to search the house as it looked suspicious,” spokesman of Tubatse SAPS, Const Jerial Sello Movundlela said.
During the search officers found a cap with a Department of Correctional Services emblem on it, a blue police light, a balaclava, a chair with an Aganang traffic police emblem on it, a brown bag with clothes, a laptop, a revolver without its serial number and four live rounds of ammunition.
They also discovered that the vehicle had been stolen in Sekhukhune.
According to Movundlela all the recovered items were taken to the police station for further investigation.
